Wind Aware is a new interactive mobile app for Competent Crew & Day Skipper Students that reinforces knowledge of point of sail terminology.
It can be difficult to learn the new sailing language & know exactly when to use it.
Wind Aware helps turn knowledge into understanding on our own time, at home, commuting or at the end of a day on the water.

Just by rotating our smart-phone or tablet, the graphics & audio show how helm, sail position & windex all relate to each other as the wind angle changes when a boat turns.

Just imagine your phone or device is your boat & you are a bird looking down on your boat.
The main screen shows a boat in a clock.
The “Windex Arrow” in the middle of the boat points into the wind, just like on a real yacht.
The Point of Sail is displayed above the clock.
The motion of the boat is displayed under the clock i.e. Bearing Away/Tacking etc.
Now you can easily see what time the wind is at and what “Point of Sail” you are on…
The sails also adjust to the changing wind angle as you rotate your device.
You can see tiller or wheel movement and also listen to the relevant commands that a skipper would issue to his crew.
